How does firstthere work?

firstthere is packaged around prepaid MasterCard® cards. Instead of paying your workers by cash, cheque or BACS you pay them directly to a prepaid MasterCard® that gives them the convenience of 24/7 access to their money via over 22 million ATMs and merchants worldwide.

You continue to use your existing payroll software to calculate wages. However, instead of making payments to individuals you make a once weekly transfer of the total amount of your payroll to firstthere and we instantly load the funds onto the workers firstthere MasterCard® cards. There is no delay and no risk to you or the worker. If you make your payment to firstthere by same day transfer you will also save 2 days payroll processing time over BACS and keep your money in your bank longer.

firstthere assists you in meeting the unique compliance requirements of your industry. firstthere enables you to charge workers cards for optional services such as Transport after payment of net wages (subject to worker consent). This avoids a breach of NMW regulations and eradicates the issue of denied direct debit payments through lack of funds. In addition, prior to issuing a firstthere card to your workers we run a Know Your Customer (KYC) check that electronically verifies their identity and authenticity of their ID document. This includes sanctions list checking for anti-terrorist and undesirable persons vetting.

firstthere eradicates payments by cash or cheque and even allows you to send e-payslips to your workers via mobile phone and Internet. This reduces postage, printing and envelope stuffing costs.

firstthere's innovative messaging service also reduces the cost and time involved in contacting workers. It allows you to send free instant messages to the mobile telephones of any worker or group of workers. Replies from your workers arrive in your inbox in the same way as email. This coupled with a Job Board to advertise vacancies makes it easy and cheap to keep in touch with your existing workforce, book labour and find new workers.
